Capacity Building
ENRD is regularly conducting capacity building programs through its different telecenters located in rural villages. Different types of programs for different social groups are targeted to make them competent as to get high benefit from ICT related services. Our focal programs are priortized for teachers, students, women, disadvantaged communities, civil society etc. Few notworthy programs are Open Space Training, Hardware and Software Training, Awareness raising training on ICT, E-Governance Training, E-learning Training etc.
1.Hardware Training
We have been conducting different basic and advanced level hardware training in different times. The training is provided to the students, teachers, youths and telecenter operators. ICT infrastructure in villages encourage rural schools to incorporate computer subject in the rural schools. Regular training courses providing by the telecenters is making youth competent to their urban counterparts as well as creating job opportunities in nearby cites and abroad. The troubleshooting training given to telecenter operators is helping them for gaining techniques for hardware maintenance. Such type of training is playing crucial role for the sustainable operation of telecenters by the development of local human resources. So that the operation and management cost of telecenter is highly reduced.
2.Media file transmission in Palpa
In order to transmit multimedia file from Palpa, wi-fi technology has already been setup between Radio Madan Pokhara and CMC Palpa by ENRD. For this training about its connection was given to selective youths in Palpa which built up their capacity and consequently they themselves are running this system.
3.Bidhyako Poka
A software called as "Bidhyako Poko" is a multi-use software developed by member of ENRD, Mr. Ram Prasad Sharma. Through this software most important information on course materials are provided to students and teachers in rural villages of ENRD Project areas. This interactive computer application provides open platform to rural teachers and students for the sharing and exchange of knowledge. Frequent training has been conducted to promote e-learning in the telecenter based schools and wide use of resources included in the Bidya ko poko.
4.Awareness programs for people of remote places
From the geographical point of view,we know that the most of the people in Nepal live in remote areas of Nepal. So aiming to them, ENRD is conducting ICT awareness program frequently by which villagers are getting opportunities to use ICT based services and side by side gain knowledge on the importance of ICT.
ICT awareness training is very successful program to develop local peoples' familarity with ICT tools. This program is gradually developing the confidence of rural communities in using ICT means for their daily livelihood and they can't see it as pure technical object but develop their look on wide opportunities for better livelihood options.
5.National Level Workshop
ENRD is conducting different national level workshops on ICT awareness, dissemination of the program activities, achievements and learnings of ENRD, developing rural friendly technology, creation and dissemination of community demanded local content and adoption of localized software so as to increase the access of rural communites including women and disadvantaged group of the society on ICT. The workshop not only aims to disseminate work of ENRD but also promote ICT interventions in many other villagers of Nepal.
6.E-Governance
In the context of Nepal those youth, women and people from marginal community who are unknown about E-Governance, ENRD is continually providing awareness program so that they are now being able to understand it scientifically and logically. Furthermore, the awareness program help them to initiate discussion about E-Governance, its importance and finally its effective implementation in Nepal.
